Sci-tech Achievements Propel Regional Economic Growth

Every provincial commission of science and technology is powering the regional economy with valuable scientific research achievements.

The South Hwanghae Provincial Commission of Science and Technology succeeded in developing a new technology for extracting oil from rice bran and developed functional nutrients by microbiologically treating soybean by-products from foodstuff factories, making it possible to increase milk yields in livestock farms.

It also developed high-efficiency long-acting fertilizer by using natural zeolite abundant in its locality, opening up a prospect for increasing the per-hectare yield at farms while saving manpower and fertilizer considerably.

The South Rimyong Provincial Commission of Science and Technology has made many sci-tech breakthroughs conducive to the development of the regional economy and rural construction.

In order to solve the problem of building materials needed for rural construction, the commission initiated a joint project with scientists and technicians of the State Academy of Sciences, the provincial industrial technology institute and the city and county commissions of science and technology. They exchanged and shared successes and experience to lay material and technical foundations for the production of mixture cement, making it possible to satisfactorily meet the needs for regional development.

It also came up with technical innovations for comprehensive mechanization of the work in mine pits and modernization of the transport system.

The Kanwang Provincial Commission of Science and Technology developed a method of concentrating manganese ore and producing ferromanganese by using manganese ore abundant in the region, thus ensuring that remarkable progress was made in manufacturing electric motors and generators and producing steel.

A number of achievements were made in updating technical indices of wire gauze belt necessary for the establishment of production lines at regional foodstuff factories.
