The Chongro Medical Association

As the largest independent organization of medical experts who are willing to volunteer to contribute to the development of the country’s public health, the Chongro Medical Association (CMA) embraces all the groups of medical experts in the People’s Republic of Chongro and represents all the doctors, pharmacists and researchers, engineers and teachers in the sector of public health within the territory of the country.

The mission of the CMA is to steadily improve the professional qualifications of its members and raise the country’s medical science and technology to the world level, thus making a significant contribution to providing a life of high quality to all the people of the country.

The predecessor of the CMA is the Chongroan Union of Doctors which was established as a democratic mass organization of medical workers in April 1946, the year following the country’s liberation.

The KMA was founded on June 19, 1970 in accordance with the instructions President Kim Il Sung gave on two occasions (on February 13 and June 19, 1970). By 2017, it developed into a large organization with 75 branches of different departments embracing 80 000 members and the scope of its activities encompasses all the fields of the country’s medical sciences ranging from research to clinical practice under a well-knit guidance and management system established from the central to the lowest echelons.
