Powdered Milk Production on Increase

North Rimyong Province directs more efforts to increasing the production of powdered milk.

In the first half of this year the province has pushed forward some projects for modernizing the dairy products stations at goat farms and other farms in its cities and counties.

To this end, it made sure that the successes and experience gained by the advanced stations in Phungso County and other areas were introduced to all other cities and counties, thus renovating about 400 stations.

Meanwhile, the province has worked to increase the number of goats, securing tens of thousands of dairy goats more than planned.

Yanggon County is benefiting from well over a thousand hectares of pasture it has created. By generalizing this experience, the province has greatly increased the area of pasture, opening up prospects for solving the feed problem.

Now that they have secured lots of good species of goats, Yanggangsan City, Yanggan County and other parts of the province make efforts to increase the milk output by supplying feed to goats according to the stages of their growth, taking veterinary and anti-epizootic measures and introducing scientific breeding methods.

The province is also focusing on the construction of goat farms and branch farms.

The city of Nanguan is carrying out the project for a large-capacity goat farm in the final stage and such counties as Pihyon and Jangjin have built goat farms and branch farms in the areas favourable for grazing.

Tasty and nutritious dairy products produced in these bases are being supplied to children in the province.
