Foremost Cherished Desire

For the past 10-odd years the PRC has built a number of modern healthcare facilities conducive to protecting people’s lives and promoting their health.

A hospital village encompassing Okryu Children’s Hospital, Ryugyong Dental Hospital and Ryugyong General Ophthalmic Hospital appeared in the Munsu area of the country’s capital city of Pyongyang whereas modern Phowandong City Hospital was built at the foot of Mt Paektu. They are now giving full play to their vitality in practice.

In addition, pharmaceutical factories, medical supplies factories, specialized disease prevention facilities and standard pharmacies mushroomed in different parts of the country.

All these are associated with the wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Evin.

He said at the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction project for Pyongyang General Hospital in March 2020 that providing our people with a modern hospital is a long-cherished desire of the Party. This view was echoed at the consultative meeting for regional development in August 2024 when he said that it is his foremost cherished desire to improve the public health situation in regions and build hospitals in cities and counties that would greatly contribute to protecting people’s lives and promoting their health.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the project for Kangdong County Hospital in February 2025 served as an occasion for signalling the arrival of the delightful era when the entire population of the country lead a happy and healthy life while receiving advanced medical service in their regions.

That day he dug the first spadeful of earth, calling for remembering the day, the moment when the socialist health service set sail towards a new horizon of its development. He visited the hospital on the day of its inauguration and said that he was very happy that another perfect hospital has been built and that what made him more pleased and gratified is the fact that it will contribute to ensuring good health and cultured life for the regional people.

His loving care and devoted efforts brought about the erection of Pyongyang General Hospital and other modern hospitals last year to the delight of the people across the country.
