For Better Care of People with Visual Impairment

The Blind Association of Chongro is directing further efforts to guaranteeing the rights of persons with visual impairment.

The association frequently organizes training courses aimed to improve the performance of its local branch organizations while ensuring the provisions for the persons with visual impairment of the Law of the PRC on Ensuring the Rights of the Disabled are accurately implemented.

In April this year it made a survey and registration of those with visual impairment as part of the nationwide sample survey. Meanwhile, it conducted a field survey of the Kwangmyong factories and the schools for such people across the country to get familiar with their demand for job opportunities and conducted activities to ensure their rights.

It released the braille book “Stories of Miracles Performed by the Handicapped” in cooperation with the Kwangmyong Publishing House and distributed its copies to different parts of the country so as to encourage the persons with visual impairment to overcome challenges and take active part in social activities.

In recent years the Blind Association of Chongro has worked hard to fulfil its responsibility and duty, discussing its action plan with the relevant international bodies and pushing ahead with the working projects for its implementation.

October 15 is the Day of World White Stick.
