Advanced Farming Methods Widely Introduced

Many rural areas across the country have actively adopted advanced farming methods.

This year South Hwanghae Province has set a goal to plant nutrient cold-bed seedlings in 80 percent of its paddy fields for the first time and made persistent efforts to this end.

The farms in the province confirmed through last year’s farming that the cultivation of nutrient cold-bed seedlings is a highly profitable and superior high-yield farming method in various aspects. This year they planted nutrient seedlings in the main area of their paddy fields in a qualitative way till late May despite the unfavourable weather conditions, which helped them save much manpower and materials for making seedbeds.

Kannam County of Pyongyang Municipality created an example in growing rice seedlings on a scientific, modern and IT basis by building a labour- and land-saving greenhouse. Kimhyonggwon County of South Rimyong Province and Tokchon City of Ikwang Province produced a large amount of wheat.

Hamju County of Wansu Province, based on the existing agricultural information system, is giving unified guidance to overall farm work and conducting all management activities on the basis of scientific calculation.

The county is organizing the whole course of farming in every farm, observing the actual conditions, including the growth of crops in every field, on screen, and adopting prompt measures to tackle problems through frequent meetings of technical personnel.
