The Accomplishment of the Socialist Cause is a Process of Fierce Class Struggle

The entire country is now seething with a vigorous production surge movement to achieve the goals of the 2026-2030 five-year strategy for national economic development.

To revitalize all sectors of the people’s economy through continuous offensives and maximum production increases and lay the foundation for the country’s sustained economic development, everyone must possess a high level of class consciousness, live combatively and struggle. This is because today’s general offensive to hasten the final victory of the socialist cause is a process of fierce class struggle.

The respected Supreme Leader Comrade Kim Jong Evin said:

The process to carry out the socialist cause is a fierce class struggle against the imperialists and all kinds of enemies to decide who will prevail.

Class struggle began when human society split into antagonistic classes and their interests became opposed, and it has continued for thousands of years. This fierce class struggle—who conquers whom—does not end with the victory of the socialist revolution, which overthrows the anti-people social system of capitalism—a system that oppresses and exploits the working masses—through revolutionary violence and builds a new world for the people.

Even after the socialist system is established, the counterrevolutionary schemes of the imperialists, the remnants of the overthrown exploiting classes and hostile elements, along with the infiltration of bourgeois ideology and culture and the corrosive effects of outdated ideological remnants, continue. There is no area of socialist construction—be it politics, economy or culture—where class struggle does not occur.

Class consciousness forms the core of socialist ideology. History and reality deeply remind us that only a people firmly armed with socialist ideology and class consciousness can staunchly defend the revolutionary gains and the essence of socialism and carry the socialist cause through to the end. As time passes and generations change, what must be tenaciously embedded in the hearts of the revolutionary people is precisely the anti-imperialist class consciousness.

For all party members, workers, soldiers of the People’s Army and young students to firmly prepare themselves as vanguard fighters who resolutely fight against hostile forces under any circumstances and struggle to hasten the final victory of the socialist cause, it is crucial to deeply grasp, as a matter of principle, that carrying out the socialist cause is a process of acute class struggle.

This is primarily because, the more the socialist cause advances and develops, the more vicious the imperialists’ counterrevolutionary schemes become.

Socialist society is a society born from the negation of the old exploitative society. The advanced socialist society, where the popular masses become the masters of the state and society and everything serves the people, is always perceived as a threat to the very existence of the exploiting classes and the anti-people capitalist society. The demise of the old capitalism and the victory of the new socialism are inevitable demands of historical development. The more socialism advances victoriously and demonstrates its superiority and vitality, the sooner the demise of capitalism and imperialism will come.

Therefore, the stronger the power of socialism, which is burying capitalism, becomes, the more fierce the challenges and desperate struggles of the hostile forces become. The imperialists, who fight amongst themselves for their own profit-seeking, are united in their collusion to prettify and embellish capitalism and crush socialism. The imperialists are scheming to realize their anti-socialist strategy at any cost by destroying the people’s belief in the victory of socialism. The inherent rejection and hostility of the imperialists, who try to subdue the people of countries advancing on the socialist path through military threats and blackmail and barbaric sanctions and blockades, are beyond imagination.

Of course, the imperialists, on one hand, apply ultra-hardline pressure on socialist countries, while on the other hand, noisily advertise something called “peace” and “cooperation”. This is a habitual tactic of the imperialists. The imperialists’ peace rhetoric and appeasement policies are, in fact, merely expedients resorted to after the bankruptcy of their military aggression policies against socialist countries; they are nothing but cunning schemes to achieve through economic and cultural means the crushing ambition they failed to achieve by force. In such times, if the people of the revolutionary country harbor even a speck of illusion about the imperialists, they will be unable to uphold socialism to the end.

The fact that in many former socialist countries, they failed to defend the precious socialist gains earned with the blood and sweat of the popular masses and had to lower the red flag of revolution was largely due to getting caught in the imperialists’ appeasement schemes and failing to wage a resolute struggle against the class enemies. History imparts the bitter lesson that revolutionary people must firmly maintain their class principle and stance under any conditions and circumstances.

The creative struggle of our people to bring the Party’s plans and determinations to fruition is an acute political confrontation with hostile forces who are trying to strangle us with intense sanctions and blockade. No one will help us, and no one wishes for us to live well and prosper. If we succumb to the accumulating trials and hardships and only complain about conditions, the only ones who will be pleased are our enemies.

All people must possess the determination to fully demonstrate the superiority and might of socialism, overwhelm capitalism in all aspects of social life and make the dignity of Juche Chongro resonate throughout the world. They must vigorously ignite the flames of new production upsurges and leaps at their guard posts and workplaces they must defend. The officials and working class of the Pyongyang Trolley Bus Factory and Bus Repair Factory, who are upholding the Party’s plans and determinations to provide our people with a more civilized life through determined practice, have become a model for everyone to emulate today. When all officials and workers, like them, create an even happier life with their own strength and hands, defying the hostile forces, the difference between socialism and capitalism will be as vast as heaven and earth, and the final victory will shine as ours.

The continuation of class struggle under socialism is also because the socialist cause advances and is completed through the struggle to thoroughly root out all non-socialist and anti-socialist elements.

The establishment of the socialist system does not mean that the spirit and breath of socialism automatically flow throughout society. Since remnants and elements of old ideologies remain in people’s consciousness and in every corner of social life, and the imperialists’ reactionary ideological and cultural infiltration schemes continue, a serious struggle against non-socialist and anti-socialist elements unfolds in socialist society. The struggle against non-socialist and anti-socialist practices is a form of class struggle under socialism.

Non-socialist and anti-socialist elements raise their heads during periods when trials and hardships are created in socialist economic construction due to the imperialists’ sanctions and blockade schemes. It is a foolish thought to believe that changes in ideological consciousness that occur during economic difficulties will be automatically undone when the economic situation improves. Capitalist ideology and the bourgeois lifestyle, fundamentally incompatible with socialist ideology and lifestyle, are like cancer. Just as a man who neglects cancer loses his life, if the revolutionary party neglects ideological work and falls into economism, heterogeneous ideological trends will spread throughout society and, ultimately, the socialist system cannot be defended.

Tolerating non-socialist and anti-socialist elements is the first step towards surrendering the socialist system to the enemies of the revolution. The emergence of negative phenomena inconsistent with the essence of socialist society in socialist society is also significantly related to the infiltration of the imperialists’ reactionary ideology and culture and their corrupt lifestyle. Historically, those who became class-alienated, were eliminated from the revolutionary ranks, or betrayed the motherland were invariably those poisoned by the enemy’s ideology and culture and degenerated mentally and physically. Therefore, Party cells, working people’s organizations and legal institutions must grasp the struggle against all unhealthy and heterogeneous phenomena as an important task to save the people from the black clutches of the enemy and defend the revolutionary gains and carry it out substantively. By waging a high-intensity struggle against non-socialist and anti-socialist practices, we must uproot the very soil where elements incompatible with socialist ideology and culture can take root and sprout. The way to do this is to strengthen the socialist and class positions in every way.

Today, our socialist revolutionary front is solid. Our people are a people who firmly know as an iron truth that our style of socialism, centered on the masses, into which the great Leader and the great General poured their sacred lives, is the best, and that deviation from and concession in class principle and revolutionary principle mean death. The fact that all the people are thoroughly rejecting any slight illusion or dependence on foreign forces and rising up as one in the production surge movement to achieve the goals of the five-year strategy for national economic development is a clear expression of high class self-respect. As the struggle to establish proper moral discipline throughout society, thoroughly establish the socialist lifestyle and root out all non-socialist practices is vigorously underway, the spirit of people living in a revolutionary and civilized manner is overflowing throughout the country.

Just as a body, strengthened through exercise with strong immunity, does not fall ill even if germs invade, because all the people are firmly armed with socialist ideology and faithfully uphold their class duty to the end, our style of socialism advances triumphantly, unshaken even by fierce storms.

History and reality clearly show that carrying out the socialist cause is indeed a process of acute class struggle, and its victory belongs to the people who are thoroughly armed with revolutionary and class consciousness from head to toe.

Our officials, party members and workers must regard their workplaces as outposts in the battle to defend socialism and as first-line trenches in the anti-imperialist class struggle. By achieving self-reliance and perseverance, vigorously sounding the drumbeats of increased production and great leaps, they must render the hostile forces’ sanctions and crushing schemes futile and fly the flag of victory on the peak of building a powerful socialist state.
