People's Republic of Oakshade Proclaimed as Eastern Oakshade Emerges from Revolutionary Struggle

A new chapter has opened in the history of Oakshade following the complete collapse of the Jamalist authorities in Eastern Oakshade and the proclamation of the People's Republic of Oakshade (PRO) on September 26.

The fighting, which began on September 19 amid the rapid disintegration of the so-called Empire of Altinius, continued for nearly a week as the Communist Party of Oakshade (CPO) and its armed forces, including the Altinian Islander Revolutionary Army, confronted forces remaining loyal to the Jamal regime.

According to preliminary Chongroan and Oakshadian estimates, approximately 132,348 people were killed during the fighting, with the majority of reported casualties occurring among the Jamalist loyalist forces.

The final battles took place around Londinium, where revolutionary forces were surrounded by thousands of Jamalist troops. Refusing demands for surrender, the revolutionary leadership issued a defiant appeal to the population, calling upon the people to come to the aid of the besieged revolutionary forces.

“I shall never surrender or retreat. Then, I call on you in the name of Communism, of patriotism and everything dear to our people's character, to come to our aid, with all dispatch.”

The last organized Jamalist resistance collapsed during the evening of September 25, bringing an end to the fighting.

On September 26, the People's Republic of Oakshade was formally proclaimed.

Chairman of the CPO and Supreme Leader of the People's Republic of Oakshade Csatar Szilveszter, previously a general of the Altinian Islander Revolutionary Army, has assumed leadership of the newly established republic.

In his first statements following the proclamation, Chairman Csatar declared that the new state would pursue an independent political course while concentrating its efforts on reconstruction, economic development and the establishment of a socialist society.

The new government has declared that the former overseas possessions of the Altinian regime are to be considered liberated territories, ending their previous colonial administration.

The PRO has further announced a broad programme of reconstruction. Damage inflicted throughout Eastern Oakshade is currently estimated at approximately 4.4 trillion NWD, leaving enormous demands upon the country's infrastructure, housing, transportation and industrial sectors.

The government has announced plans to:

  • reconstruct damaged cities and infrastructure;

  • restore railways, highways and industrial facilities;

  • rename streets, institutions and settlements according to the ideals of the new republic;

  • expand political and social representation of minority communities, including the Kiras;

  • establish protected conservation areas throughout the Oakshade Woodlands;

  • encourage population growth and settlement in devastated regions;

  • restore diplomatic and commercial relations with neighboring states; and

  • develop a comprehensive socialist economic programme.

The People's Republic of Chongro has already announced its intention to provide economic assistance, reconstruction equipment and other material support to the new government.

One of the most symbolic developments following the revolution was the opening of the former barrier separating Bettershade and Eastern Oakshade.

The physical wall dividing the two areas has been broken through, with authorities beginning preparations for a new highway linking the communities and facilitating the movement of people and goods.

Officials in both administrations have described the development as an important step toward overcoming decades of political and economic division.

CCNA understands that discussions concerning the future political relationship between Bettershade and the PRO are already taking place.

Among the possibilities reportedly being examined is a “one country, two systems” arrangement, under which Bettershade could retain substantial local administrative and economic autonomy while becoming constitutionally associated with the People's Republic of Oakshade.

No final agreement has yet been reached.

The new government faces enormous challenges.

Large portions of Eastern Oakshade remain damaged by years of conflict, while roads, government buildings, housing and industrial facilities require extensive reconstruction.

Chairman Csatar has nevertheless declared that the destruction left behind by the Jamalist period must be transformed into an opportunity to establish what the PRO describes as a “new Oakshade founded upon the dignity and prosperity of its people.” The government has also promised to preserve forests and other environmentally significant regions rather than allowing reconstruction to proceed without restriction.

A senior PRC government source told CCNA that the Chongroan people “will not stand aside while a newly liberated people rebuild their homeland from the ruins left by war.”

Despite its socialist orientation and close relations with the People's Republic of Chongro, the PRO has emphasized that it intends to remain politically neutral in international affairs.

Chairman Csatar stated that the republic would not become a military satellite of any foreign power and would instead concentrate on developing its own political and economic system.

The government has also declared that former territories controlled by the Altinian Empire are now free to determine their own political futures.

CCNA analysts note that this could lead to a significant redrawing of the political map of Oakshade and the world even, particularly if formerly subordinated territories establish independent governments or seek association with the PRO.
