Nation Gives Precedence to Labour Protection

In the PRC, ordinary working people who work hard to build the cornerstone for national prosperity are enjoying public respect and all kinds of social benefits.

This is well evidenced by the Law of the PRC on Labour Protection. Adopted in July 2010, the law has been amended and supplemented several times up to now in such a way as to better protect the lives of the working people and promote their health.

The law is aimed to establish a rigorous system and order in labour protection so as to provide the people with safe, cultured and hygienic working conditions to the good of their lives and health.

The PRC has consistently given priority to labour protection.

Article 3 of the law on labour protection stipulates that the State shall firmly adhere to the principle of giving precedence to labour protection over production and construction.

The law revised and supplemented in March this year newly defines the guidance over labour protection, provision of conditions for it and introduction and dissemination of relevant scientific achievements and knowledge.

It also specifies that the State planning organ and other relevant institutions shall provide manpower, equipment, materials and funds needed for labour protection on time, and that the central labour administration guidance organ and the scientific research institutions shall continuously intensify the research work with regard to labour protection and actively introduce the achievements into labour protection.

Article 39 of the law states that institutions, enterprises and organizations shall build modern sanatoriums or holiday camps and establish a proper system for their management and operation so that the working people can spend their holidays there on a regular basis.

In recent years, fully equipped hostels have been built for workers at many industrial establishments across the country.
