The former ruling family of the Jamalist regime was brought before People's Courts across the People's Republic of Oakshade today following their discovery in an underground bunker north of Londinium.

The discovery brings to an end the international manhunt for the principal members of the former regime, whose government collapsed during the September liberation of Eastern Oakshade.

The former monarch, Jamal III, was transferred under heavy security to the highest judicial organ of the People's Republic of Oakshade, where he faced a public trial before a neutral jury.

Thousands of witnesses, documentary records and testimonies were presented during the proceedings.

Among the charges brought against Jamal III were crimes against humanity, systematic political repression, unlawful imprisonment, torture, persecution of political opponents, extrajudicial killings, forced displacement, abuse of military power, deliberate attacks against civilians, ordering indiscriminate military operations, corruption, embezzlement of state resources, conspiracy against the people, suppression of political organizations, and responsibility for the deaths and suffering resulting from the regime's military campaigns, the trial which was not fully acted upon when the New Woodlands had Jamal II in custody.

The prosecution additionally presented evidence concerning the former regime's treatment of minority communities and territories under its control, as well as allegations that government officials deliberately prolonged military conflicts for political and personal gain.

After extensive deliberations, the People's Court found Jamal III guilty on the principal charges brought against him.

The verdict was greeted by large crowds gathered outside the courthouse with a full +24 hour long celebration by the people.

Jamal III's wife was separately tried for criminal conspiracy, complicity in the administration's crimes, obstruction of justice, concealment of state assets and participation in the organization of political repression.

The People's Court subsequently returned a guilty verdict.

The court ordered her execution following the conclusion of the proceedings.

PRO authorities stated that the trials of remaining senior Jamalist officials and loyalists would continue.

Chairman Csatar Szilveszter declared that those found to have deliberately participated in the crimes of the former regime would face the full force of the law.

He nevertheless emphasized that children of the former ruling family would not be subjected to collective punishment merely because of their family relationship.

Children aged 13 and above may, under PRO law, be brought before a People's Court where sufficient evidence exists concerning their own conduct, while children below 18 who are not personally implicated in crimes are to be treated separately from adult conspirators.

In addition to the news of this new law coming into effect, the PRO government has announced that the surviving children of the former ruling family will be permitted to express their own wishes concerning their future residence.

The family consists of six children, including several daughters and the youngest son.

Katherina, aged 17, expressed a desire to leave Oakshade and relocate to the New Woodlands. Authorities in the New Woodlands have indicated their willingness to facilitate her transfer.

Amalie, also aged 17, expressed interest in eventually residing in Finlandia, Ailartsua or the New Woodlands.

The family's eldest son now named Aleksandr has expressed a preference for establishing a residence in the ZTRR.

Erna, aged seven, is to be transferred to the People's Republic of Chongro, where arrangements for her care and education are being considered.

Elena, aged 14, has expressed a desire to remain in Oakshade and participate in the reconstruction of the country in which she was born, although officials stated that she remains uncertain about this decision.

The PRO and PRC governments have jointly stated that the children's wishes will be respected wherever practicable.

The youngest child, six-year-old Jamal VIII, has been formally stripped of his former dynastic name and is now to be known as Karl.

Karl is currently receiving care at an undisclosed hospital while the PRO authorities determine a permanent guardianship and residence arrangement.

Officials stressed that the child will not be treated as responsible for the actions of his parents..
